Campfire Strawberry Shortcake: Red, White & Delicious

Campfire Strawberry Shortcake: Red, White & Delicious

Campfire Strawberry Shortcake: Red, White & Delicious 🍓🔥

If you're around a fire this 4th of July weekend and you want a dessert that takes ten minutes and gets everyone talking, this is it. 🍓🔥

Slice a pound of fresh strawberries, toss them with a tablespoon of sugar, and let them sit for 15 minutes while they get juicy. Split and lightly toast your biscuits or shortcake shells on the edge of the grate — just a minute or two until they're warm and a little crispy on the cut side. Load them up: bottom biscuit, a big spoonful of strawberries and their syrup, a cloud of whipped cream (the can kind works perfectly at camp), the top biscuit, a few more berries.

Red strawberries, white cream, golden biscuit. July 4th colors without even trying.

Cost for 6-8 people: about $8. Time: 10 minutes. The look on people's faces when you pull this out at the campsite: worth every second.
